A Demonstration of Field Sequential Colour TV

This is a very short, 3 frame AVI, which shows a television test card. The picture is in Black and White, but parts of it are flashing. These are the coloured parts of the test card. To view it in colour you need a Colour Wheel.

Making a colour wheel: I used a miniature personal fan. You can buy these from tourist shops. They use one AA battery. First I removed the fan blades. Then you need to find three pieces of transparent coloured plastic in Red, Green and Blue. I took them from a book of samples, provided free by a manufacturer of filters for film and television lighting. Simply stick these to the end of the fan with sticky tape. See picture.

View the AVI through this colour wheel. You will need to slow down the fan to the required 20 revs per second by braking it with your finger.
