Guitar Tuner

People who are not called Helen. or who have real computers, should ignore all the red text

Here's a Guitar Tuner, in WAV and Real Audio formats, for any PC with a Sound Card. There's also an AIF version which may work with a MACINTOSH, which may think it is a SND file, and an AU version which may work with even the oldest versions of NETSCAPE on a MACINTOSH, if all else fails.

An Accurate Frequency for each open string plays for 2 seconds, starting with the bottom E string.

WAV Audio---Plays once & lasts for 12 seconds (130k)

Real Audio---Repeats 10 times & lasts for 2 Minutes (118k)

AIF Audio---Plays once & lasts for 12 seconds (130k)FOR MACINTOSH

AU Audio----Plays once & lasts for 12 seconds (130k)FOR NETSCAPE ON MACINTOSH

You can set the WAV file to loop indefinitely with Windows' "Media Player" or "Active Movie". (Something similar may be possible with the AIF file when using a Macintosh LCii running System 7.0?)

Each tone is a Triangular Wave, & the Frequencies used are (in reverse order):

E------329.628Hz

B------246.942Hz

G------196.000Hz

D------146.832Hz

A------110.000Hz

E-------82.407Hz

A Triangular Wave was chosen to maintain audibility of the lower notes through small loudspeakers, and because it is closer to the natural waveform than sine wave or square wave.

Audio Formats:

WAV File is PCM, 11.025kHz sampling, 8 Bit, Mono. 5kHz Bandwidth.

RA File is Real Audio Version 2 for 14.4k Modems, 4kHz Bandwidth. This is the oldest version of Real Audio, and should be compatible with all Real Audio players.
